Protect your mattress naturally with wool. Each puddle pad is 1/8" layer
of moisture resistant untreated wool. The wool acts as a virtually
waterproof layer, so that messes sit on top. We recommend using the
quilted cotton pad on top of a wool puddle pad to actually absorb
messes. When baby has an accident, you will usually wash only the
quilted cotton pad. Wool rarely needs washing because bacteria and mold
do not grow on wool. Wool naturally resists mildew, bacteria and dust
mites. You may wash your wool puddle pad in "Hand Wash" or "Delicate"
with cool water. Be sure to hang dry, and not in direct sunlight. Dries
within hours.
No carbonizing, mothproofing or shrink proofing is
used to create EcoBaby's natural products. Only untreated wool is used
to make this soft mattress protector. Sheep range in large areas in the
Pacific Northwest and are fed a good diet. They free range graze on lush
fields that is not treated with pesticides or herbicides. The sheep are
not treated with antibiotics or hormones. This pure wool is felted here
in the United States to create a perfect pad to resist liquids. Softer
than competitor wool pads so you don't get that itchy feeling. No
treatments, no plasticizers.

What's Wrong with Conventional Mattress Pads?
If you want to create a safe, non-toxic environment for baby, don't use pvc/vinyl waterproof mattress pads found in most stores. Vinyl/PVC is largely regarded as one of the most toxic plastics in use today. It also poses many environmental concerns. Mattress covers made from vinyl/PVC contain many chemical additives such as phthalates, antimony, and various biocides released over time.
