Haba Product Safety

We at EuphoriaBaby care deeply about product safety, and we know that you do too.  Here is some more detailed information about Haba: it's history, standards and products.

Company History
Founded in 1938 by Eugen Habermaass and his wife Luise in Bad Rodach, Germany, Haba has remained a family owned and run company to this day. Their first products were smooth, carefully polished building blocks for babies, made from locally derived hardwoods. These same wooden blocks are still made today, along with a vast array of wooden, cloth and high quality plastic children's products, in everything from room décor to baby rattles, and gifts for children of all ages.

The Haba Standard
Haba toys are made in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified workshops, with rigorous quality control and attention to detail in mind at all times. To design and create their numerous products, Haba employs over 1,500 people, including nine product designers, two graphic designers, photographers, carpenters and many more. Haba employees are known throughout the world for their dedication to creating educational, enriching and well-made toys for children of all ages.

Not all Haba toys are made in Germany.  All of them are designed in Germany, and most of them are made in Germany, but a few are made in China at ICTI certified facilities.  Haba chooses to use only ICTI certified facilities, which must meet rigorous standards and are tested on an annual basis to make sure that they are upholding those standards.  If you would like to know if a specific Haba item is made in Germany or China, please just ask!

Common Concerns
Haba does not believe in the safety of PBDE or other chemical-based flame retardants.  Therefore, no Haba products (foam or fabrics) are treated with flame retardants.  The wood for Haba toys is also kiln dried, instead of treated with chemicals.  The only substance applied to the woods is non-toxic, water-based dyes. To clean wood toys, just wipe clean, rather than using unnecessary cleaners.  All dyes for fabrics are tested before use.  Haba does not use any heavy metals to set the dyes, so the fabrics are safe and non-toxic.

"We purchased an 18-pack of the Bun Genius 3.0 diaper; it was a package deal. So far, after 2 weeks, the diapers are working well. Customer service was especially friendly and helpful when consulted for suggestions on a suitable laundry detergent. I'd use this merchant and get these diapers again."  Anonymous -   More testimonials
